Charging below your market range doesn't just mean less money per booking — it also attracts clients who are shopping on price, not trust, and it signals inexperience to the clients you actually want. Established sitters rarely compete by being the cheapest option; they compete by being reliable and easy to book.
Give at least 30 days' notice, explain it plainly (rising costs, demand, added services), and apply it to everyone at once rather than negotiating client by client. Clients who already trust you rarely leave over a reasonable increase — the ones who do were usually the least profitable to keep anyway.
Are these rates accurate for my exact city?
They're a starting range based on cost-of-living tier (small town, suburban, major city), not your specific zip code — no free data source breaks pricing down that precisely. Use the range as a sanity check, then adjust based on what sitters near you actually charge.
Why is the range so wide?
Pet sitting rates vary a lot by experience, certifications, and local demand — even within the same city. A wide range is more honest than a single fake-precise number.
Should I charge the same as Rover or Wag sitters in my area?
Platform sitters often price to compete inside that marketplace, and part of what a client pays there goes to the platform, not the sitter. If you book clients directly, you can usually charge less than the platform price and still take home more per booking.
